What we do

Cometa is a space to grow, discover one’s talent, and build one’s future

Our commitment to children, youth, and families
Learning by doing, growing together
Work as possibility, discovery, self-creation

Our method

Cometa’s approach always starts from experience — the one lived every day by students at school and by young people and adults in the workplace.

A single thread runs through everything we do: putting the person at the centre, helping them discover their talents and build a future made of dignity, independence, and relationships.

Cometa - Our method 1

A gaze that generates

Cometa’s method is born from a gaze.
A gaze that over time has learned, found words and tools, and become more aware while always keeping the same origin: welcoming every person for who they are, without forgetting anything of their story.

It is not a mechanical method nor a set of procedures: it is a living experience, one that sees the desire for goodness, beauty, and truth present in every person.

Today this gaze is at the heart of everything we do in our school, workshops, care settings, and workplaces.

Education

A journey that values the uniqueness of each person

The teaching method

Cometa’s educational method is born from direct knowledge and the observation of real needs of young people. At the Oliver Twist School, you learn by doing: work becomes an opportunity for knowledge and growth, through “real-world tasks” that combine practice and theory, educating students to commitment and the satisfaction of achieving results.

Since 2018, our school has been recognised by UNESCO as a European centre of excellence for its training method.

Work

Shaping places where everyone has a role

Cometa - Our method 7

An opportunity for life

After school, many vulnerable young people risk isolation and marginalisation. That is why we created inclusive workplaces, where everyone can express their abilities and aspirations, develop professional skills, and discover new forms of independence.

Work thus becomes a starting point: a genuine role in society, a reason to get up every morning, an experience of true integration.

The pedagogical method

Values and tools that transform experience into growth

Teamwork

We have adapted our organisation to the needs of vulnerable people, developing moments of constant exchange and training that allow staff to observe, experiment, and choose the best strategies for each worker.

Support network

Support does not end within our spaces: we collaborate with families, specialists, local services, and international partners (APSA, University of Elche) to build solid and shared pathways.

Personalised goals

For each person, specific and tailored goals are set, related to both professional growth and personal wellbeing. This is how every talent can emerge and become a resource for the entire group.

Adapting environments

We redesign spaces and processes based on people’s needs. Tidy environments, task organisation and division, tutoring and mediation by the company tutor, simple and clear communication supported by symbols or images make work more accessible to everyone.

Pedagogical tools

We use targeted tools to get to know each person and support their work activity: from data collection and interviews with families, to observation sheets, to materials that simplify complex tasks with images, checklists, and clear procedures.

Working not for, but with

We start from the needs of the person with a disability and actively involve every trainee and worker in the creation of tools and facilitators that make learning tasks and communication truly accessible.

Methodological development

We collaborate with European organisations, such as APSA in Spain, to develop innovative pedagogical methodologies, including in the field of disability. Through our International Affairs & Research area, we work every day to take Cometa ever further, turning internationalisation into a concrete opportunity for growth for those we welcome.

An impact that goes beyond inclusion

In our workplaces, it is not only the lives of those who work that change: the perspective of colleagues, companies, and customers changes too.

We discover every day that limits are not insurmountable barriers, but opportunities for growth for everyone.

Cometa - Our method 11

Training, work, continuity

Cometa’s pedagogical method does not end with a limited experience but takes shape in structured pathways of professional training, internships, and ongoing support. Attention is given to both skills development and the overall wellbeing of the person.

Accompanying means supporting the development of a possible and sustainable professional identity, facilitating entry into and permanence in the world of work, and offering opportunities for lifelong learning, so that acquired skills can be consolidated over time. In this way, the work and social needs of people with disabilities meet the needs of companies, creating environments where inclusion is concrete, daily, and generative.

Pathways designed for every uniqueness

Cometa’s training and work accompaniment pathways are aimed in particular at adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, often excluded from the world of work due to criteria of efficiency and productivity.

We believe that, when given the right conditions and supported with targeted tools and facilitators, these individuals can express genuine talents, develop professional skills, and rediscover themselves as a resource for themselves and for others.
Work thus becomes not only an employment opportunity, but a place of recognition, belonging, and citizenship.

Inclusion

This experience has changed my life because I met people who care about me and guide me while teaching me a trade. Thanks to them, I realised that I too can do something for others, and this is wonderful and very important because usually it is always others who help me.
